Seaforth Public before school Science
TERM 2 2019
Thank you for your interest in before school Science. Please find information and booking details for this offering below. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like any additional information.
When: Thursday mornings - Term 2 2019 (10 weeks with first session Thursday 2nd May - last session Thursday 4th July).
Timing: Before school 7:45am-8:45am.
Where: Seaforth Public School - Yatama Campus (Kempbridge campus students will be walked over to Kempbridge at 8:45am)
What: Fun, hands on science experiments, activities and demonstrations.
Throughout the term the children will get to create their own experiments as well as try out some fascinating science equipment straight from the lab. All activities will help develop skills required for “Working Scientifically” and “Working Technologically” whilst covering various topics of the “Knowledge and Understanding” component of the Syllabus (e.g. physical world, living world, material world etc.).
The goal is to help inspire and motivate the next-generation of critical thinkers by sharing and instilling a passion for science. Ultimately, we want to ignite young minds to think critically, equip them with a problem-solving mindset, and foster an inquiry-based learning culture where asking "why" is encouraged.
Who: Sessions are designed and run by Dr Alana Wylie who holds a PhD in immunology and parasitology and has extensive experience working with children. Alana and any Eye Heart Science staff hold current Working With Children Check (WWCC) approval.
Cost: $220 per term
Additional info: Lab coats will be provided during the sessions to ensure school uniforms don’t become part of the experiments. Lab coats can also be purchased for $19.95 - see the Science Shop when ready to check out.
Please note: Places are limited and bookings will be closed once capacity has been reached.
